Equipment Care FAQs - Machines, Masks and Supplies
MACHINES
What maintenance is required on my machine?
The only major care your CPAP or BiPAP machine will require is the cleaning of filters at the air intake, keeping dust and small particles out of your machine. Paper filters should be changed when discolored or at least once a month, while foam washable filters should be rinsed and air-dried about once per week.

MASKS
How do I care for my mask?
Wash your mask daily with warm water and gentle soap, leave to air dry. Do not use antibacterial soaps as they will break down the silicone in the mask cushion. Mask wipes are also optimal for wiping down each morning and will not break down the mask.
How often should I replace my mask?
Mask cushions are replaced approximately every three months and complete mask systems every six months. However, if your cushions or pillows begin to soften you should replace immediately as leaks will begin to form.
How do I stop mask leaks?
Air leaks occur when your mask is too old, the wrong size or the wrong style for your CPAP needs. As the mask ages it deteriorates and loses its seal. The cushion should be removed and replaced at that point. If air is leaking into your eyes or at the base of the nose then your mask is sized incorrectly or may be obstructed by facial hair.
Which mask is right for me?
Your doctor will prescribe the right mask for your needs. We have full facial, nasal, nasal pillow and oral masks available here as well as other varieties customized for youth, women, and special needs.
